By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso FC remain at the top of the Premier League of Belize after Week 3, holding firm with 7 points from three matches following their 2–2 draw with Napoles FC on Sunday at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk. Verdes FC, meanwhile, continued their perfect start to the Closing Championship with a 4–1 win over Benque United and now sit just one point behind with a game in hand.
Napoles FC also remain unbeaten after three outings and climb to five points, while Belmopan FC move into the top four following their high‑scoring 6–3 victory over Port Loyola.
As it stands, Progresso remain the early leaders thanks to their strong defensive record and two emphatic wins to open the season. Verdes, however, look the most balanced side so far, scoring six goals and conceding just once in their first two matches.
Napoles continue to impress with consistency, while Belmopan’s explosive attack keeps them in the top four despite defensive concerns.
At the bottom, Wagiya are still searching for their first point, and Benque United will need to tighten up defensively after conceding nine goals in three outings.
The PLB 2025-2026 Closing Championship is already shaping up to be tightly contested, with the top three separated by just two points heading into Week 4.
