By Aaron Humes: The peaceful coastal village of Hopkins, Stann Creek District was surprised after an 18-year-old resident named Gevin Armstrong was shot multiple times early Sunday morning. The shooting occurred around 4:50 a.m. as Armstrong was walking near the village basketball court.
Despite the severity of his injuries, Armstrong miraculously survived the attack and is currently in stable condition at Southern Regional Hospital, Dangriga. Armstrong reportedly indicated that he knows the individual responsible for the shooting, leading police to believe that this may not have been a random act of violence.
Police have reported that Armstrong is not known to them, and as of now, there appears to be no established motive for the shooting. Investigators are awaiting a full statement from Armstrong to gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
