Saint Lucia
– Two of St. Lucia’s top boxers have been awarded international scholarships to undergo advanced training in Guadeloupe, marking a major step forward for the island’s boxing programme.

Hervé Charlemagne and Daniel Martin will participate in a three-month immersion programme at the Centre des Ressources d’Expertise et de Performance Sportive (CREPS) in Guadeloupe.
OECS Communications Specialist Jacques Hinkson-Compton noted that the initiative has a strong track record in developing high-performance athletes.
“The CREPS Guadeloupe immersion programme is internationally recognised for athlete development and has played a pivotal role in shaping elite competitors across many sporting disciplines,” he said.
Both boxers enter the programme with strong regional credentials. Hervé Charlemagne made history as one of St. Lucia’s most promising youth athletes after securing a bronze medal at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean School Sports Games in Venezuela—a national milestone in boxing competition.
Daniel Martin is a two-time OECS gold medallist, including his most recent novice title in 2024. Their progression reflects the broader strengthening of St. Lucian boxing, as showcased at major regional tournaments.
In 2025, Saint Lucia successfully retained its team champion title at the OECS Boxing Invitational Championships, finishing first overall with a haul of gold, silver, and bronze medals—underscoring the depth of talent emerging on the island.
