BPL’s popular film festival about writers celebrates its seventh year with seven nights of documentaries and films.
BPL said the selection of films highlights influential and iconoclastic literary minds, such as Hannah Arendt, Mario Vargas Llosa, W.S. Merwin, Edna O’Brien, George Orwell, Sonia Sanchez, Art Spiegelman, and Anne Waldman.
The festival features a keynote talk by Raoul Peck, the Academy Award-nominated director of 2+2 = 5 and I Am Not Your Negro, as well as additional speakers to be announced.
BPL said the festival runs from Nov.10–16.
Among upcoming Events are: LitFilm 2025 Opening Film, Art Spiegelman: Disaster is My Muse & Talkback, Monday, Nov 10, 7 p.m. Central Library, Dweck Center; Documentary dir. by Philip Dolin & Molly Bernstein: The film will be followed by a talkback with directors Philip Dolin, Molly Bernstein, and artist/author Molly Crabapple; and Art Spiegelman: Disaster is My Muse LitFilm 2025 Keynote Film: Orwell: 2+2=5 & Talkback with Raoul Peck Tuesday, Nov. 11, 6:30 p.m., Central Library, Dweck Center.
Others include: Documentary, dir. by Raoul Peck: Featuring a talkback conversation with director Raoul Peck, the LitFilm 2025 Keynote Film is Orwell: 2+2=5. George Orwell was “one of the most visionary authors of the 20th Century,” BPL said.

LitFilm 2025: Hannah Arendt: Facing Tyranny, Wed., Nov. 12, 7 p.m., Central Library, Dweck Center, “takes a closer look at one of the most fearless political writers of modern times,” BPL said.
