
Dominica’s Addison James’s triumph in the Boys’ Under-20 Javelin Throw at the 2025 CARIFTA Games on Sunday, April 20, has led to a remarkable moment of victory for the country.
James showcased an impressive performance, launching the javelin to an exceptional distance of 67.48 metres, which not only earned him a first-place finish but also set a new national record for Dominica in this discipline. This was according to reports from the Dominica Athletics Association.
“Right now I feel very delighted,” James said. “I went out, I did my best, and here it is.”
While he acknowledged that it may not have been his top throw, James expressed his expectation for a significant mark that evening.
“All in all, I still did my best, took the opportunity, and gave it my best,” he noted.
The 2025 CARIFTA Games, taking place at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, is a prestigious event that gathers some of the finest young athletes from throughout the Caribbean.
