Devon Emmanuel Wright Jr., who is charged with the abduction and murder of 2-year-old Alissady Azalea Powell, has been ordered to appear before the Grand Court for mention on 3 Oct.
Wright, 33, appeared before the court via video-link from HMP Northward, where he is remanded in custody, on Friday, 22 Aug.
At that brief appearance, attorney Jonathon Hughes told Justice Cheryll Richards that lead counsel Stan Reiz, KC, of 2BR Chambers in London, had been retained to defend Wright.
No plea was taken on Friday.
Alissady’s body was found on Cayman Brac’s ironshore on 26 July 2022, following a search for the child, who was discovered missing from her bed.
