A team from the Anguilla Amateur Swimming Association (AASA) is heading off to Singapore to participate in the 2025 World Aquatics Championships.
The prestigious international event – which includes six aquatic disciplines – is taking place from 11 July to 3 August with swimming events beginning on 27 July.
A 4 July press release from AASA said: “This is a proud moment for our island as we send a talented and dedicated delegation to represent Anguilla on the world stage.”
Joseph William, will serve as head coach “bringing expertise, leadership and unwavering support to guide our athlete to success”, AASA said.
Star swimmer Jonathan Irizarry will compete in the 50 metres freestyle and 50m breaststroke events.
Head of delegation Tyrone Hughes will represent Anguilla in meetings and at the congress, and Laurie Connor will embark on a key governance and mentorship training programme.
“This journey is more than just a competition – it’s about growth, global representation and the relentless Anguillian spirit,” the press release said.

The AASA team will leave for Singapore on 20 July and return on 5 August.
