A man is expected to face jail time after pleading guilty to firearm possession charges stemming from a suspicious vehicle stop last month.
Rohan Hector was remanded into custody on Wednesday after the individual who was scheduled to speak on his behalf failed to appear in court. Hector had previously pleaded guilty to charges related to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to police reports, on April 27, officers at police headquarters observed a car suspiciously reversing from south to north on American Road. The unusual driving prompted officers to follow the vehicle and stop it, leading to the discovery of Hector and another individual inside the car.
When questioned about the unusual driving behaviour, Hector reportedly told officers there was “something wrong with the transmission.” Officers, suspecting the occupants might be in possession of illegal items, requested to search the vehicle.
