Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) says there has been a strong 31% rise in tourists from the Arabian Gulf area in 2024.
More people from this region are choosing Barbados for its luxury, culture, and relaxed Caribbean feel.
The most tourists came from the United Arab Emirates, with numbers up by 30%. Saudi Arabia saw a 36% rise. Oman had the biggest jump, with 104% more visitors than the year before.
This shows that people in the GCC are becoming more interested in long-distance, luxury holidays, especially to places like Barbados. The island is popular for its clean beaches, exciting food, family activities, and wellness options. Luxury all-inclusive resorts are also a big draw for families.
BTMI’s CEO, Andrea Franklin, said they are happy to see more visitors from the GCC who want authentic, rich travel experiences. She said the new Director of Emerging Markets, Kyle Gittens, will help grow these efforts and attract even more tourists.
Gittens said the GCC is becoming an important market. He added that people there want real, special experiences—and Barbados has plenty to offer.
To attract these tourists, BTMI has used targeted ads, travel partnerships, and promotions that match GCC tastes. A big help has been their work with dnata Representation Services, which supports marketing and PR.
Barbados is working to reach more travelers around the world, and the oil-rich gulf is seen as a key area for growth and future success.
