By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize took center stage at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan on Sunday as it celebrated its official National Day under the theme “One Belize, One Purpose: Ecosystem for Life.”
The occasion was a proud moment of cultural pride and diplomatic visibility for the country. Led by Prime Minister John Briceño, the Belize delegation delivered a compelling program that included a formal flag-raising ceremony, a keynote address, and a colorful array of performances showcasing the nation’s diverse ethnic heritage—from Garifuna drumming to Maya dance, Mestizo rhythms, and Creole storytelling.
“This is more than a celebration of our identity; it is a declaration of our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and meaningful global collaboration,” said Prime Minister Briceño during his address.
The event underscored Belize’s commitment to the Expo’s overarching theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” by highlighting national efforts in sustainable tourism, environmental protection, and cultural preservation. The Belize Pavilion—spearheaded by BELTRAIDE, BTB, and the Blue Bond Unit—has already welcomed more than 850,000 visitors and will remain open until October 15, 2025.
Visitors to the Pavilion are immersed in interactive exhibits on investment opportunities, blue economy innovation, eco-tourism, and locally made products under the “Made in Belize” brand.
Accompanying Prime Minister Briceño were Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler; Minister of State Devin Daly; and senior officials from the Ministries of Tourism, Blue Economy, Finance, and Culture, along with BELTRAIDE and the National Institute of Culture and History.
The National Day ceremony was streamed live via the Government of Belize’s Facebook page, allowing Belizeans both at home and in the diaspora to be part of the momentous occasion.
