By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 27-year-old Belize City man, Erin Dylan Yacab, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being sentenced to three months in prison for intentionally obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duties.
Yacab, a labourer of Douglas Jones Street, appeared before the Chief Magistrate in Court #1 where he changed his plea from not guilty to guilty for the offense. The charge stems from an incident that occurred on December 27, 2024, on New Road, Belize City.

According to police reports, PC #1272 Tyren Pablo and PC Eulianee Diego were conducting a vehicle checkpoint and foot patrol around 12:30 a.m. when they noticed a Hispanic man — later identified as Yacab — exiting an alley at #103 New Road. The officers approached him and informed him he would be searched for illegal drugs or ammunition.
While being informed of the search, Yacab was seen holding a small transparent plastic bag containing a white substance suspected to be cocaine or crack cocaine. He quickly placed it into his mouth and locked his jaw. Despite orders from PC Pablo to open his mouth, Yacab refused and was seen chewing and swallowing the contents.
As a result of his guilty plea, Yacab was sentenced to three months in prison, which will run concurrently with any other sentence he may be serving. He had previously been on remand for burglary and drug-related charges.
