By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The road from San Ignacio to Belize City will be the ultimate proving ground on Sunday, April 13, 2025, as women cyclists take on the 34th Annual Women Cross Country Cycling Classic. Organized by the Cycling Federation of Belize in partnership with PUMA Energy, this prestigious race celebrates endurance, skill, and the unbreakable spirit of women competitors.
Cyclists will take off from Columbus Park in San Ignacio at 8:00 a.m., embarking on a gruelling journey toward the finish line at Digi Park on Princess Margaret Drive in Belize City. Along the way, spectators will line the roads, cheering as the competitors battle for victory and the chance to carve their names into Belize’s sporting history.
A Look Back: The 33rd Annual Race
Last year’s edition proved to be a quite a spectacle, with LA Sweat’s American Regina Doty winning the 33rd edition. Doty secured the win by outpacing Williams Racing’s Mexican Julyn Águila just ahead of the finish line at Digi Park. The American rider completed the 73-mile race in under 3 hours and 20 minutes.
With a history spanning 34 years, the Women Cross Country Cycling Classic remains one of Belize’s most anticipated annual sporting events. As the countdown begins, cycling fans eagerly await the crowning of a new champion.
