Brittany Jnobaptiste has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of Wendy Jane Finch. The court heard that Jnobaptiste was in a cannabis-induced psychotic state at the time of the killing.
The 24-year-old had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility after initially facing murder charges for the October 2021 killing in Finch’s Piccadilly home.
The court ordered a possible review of the sentence after 25 years and directed that the 1,270 days Jno-Baptiste spent on remand be deducted from her prison term.
Justice Tunde Bakre acknowledged her mental health struggles but highlighted the severity of the crime. The 24-year-old will remain under psychiatric care.
