CARICOM has sent a ten-member Election Observation Mission (CEOM) to watch the General Elections in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on 27 November 2025.
The Mission was invited by the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in a letter dated 2 October 2025. The team will be in the country from 20 to 29 November.
The Mission includes senior election and public officials from seven CARICOM states, along with three staff members from the CARICOM Secretariat who will handle administration and logistics.
The Chief of Mission is Mr. Sase R. Gunraj, a Commissioner with the Guyana Elections Commission. Other members come from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
The Secretariat support staff are Ms. Shae-Alicia Lewis, Mr. Irvin Brown, and Ms. Serojnie Seetaram.
The Core Group, made up of the Chief of Mission and the Secretariat staff, arrived on 20 November. The rest of the observers are due by 23 November.
So far, the team has met with the Daniel Cummings of the New Democratic Party, Dr. Doris Frederick of the National Liberation Movement, the Teachers’ Union, the Voice of the Disabled, and members of the media.
They will next meet Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister and Leader of the Unity Labour Party; Ms. Dora James, Supervisor of Elections; and Commissioner of Police Mr. Enville Williams. They will also speak with other political groups and civil society to understand the pre-election climate and check readiness for the vote.
On Election Day, observers will watch the full process: opening of polling stations, voting, closing procedures, counting of ballots, and the announcement of results. They will also review the immediate post-election situation.
After Election Day, and before departing on 29 November, the CEOM will release a Preliminary Statement with its first assessment. A full Final Report will later be given to the CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett, and then made public.
The Mission says it is pleased to support the democratic process in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and is grateful for the welcome and cooperation received. It wishes the voters well as they prepare for the polls.
