The Ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation, The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), and The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the project “Community Engagement of the Coastal Zone and Fisheries Sector of Belize Through CCA and DRM Capacity Building” is supporting the increase of resilience for the coastal zone and fisheries sector through improved management, stakeholder livelihoods, disaster risk management and awareness.


This Community-Based Disaster Risk Management Engagement Workshop’s key outputs include:
(i) The creation of a community-based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) Plan for Dangriga Town.
(ii) A Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management Community Engagement Strategy and Action Plan.
(iii) A Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Framework.
In order to:
- Increase engagement of key disaster risk reduction actors (i.e., government, CSOs, private and other national partners).
- Build capacity and response capabilities of national actors in disaster risk management (DRM) and of community members in coastal communities.
- Build the capacity of fisherfolks in DRM and climate change resilient livelihoods.
