The Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) Grenada Chapter formally calls on all citizens, businesses, and institutions to participate in Earth Hour 2026, the annual global environmental initiative coordinated by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF).
Earth Hour will be observed on Saturday, 28 March 2026, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. By participating, Grenadians will join tens of millions of people across the globe in a unified act of commitment to climate action and environmental stewardship.
Grenada, like many Small Island Developing States (SIDS), faces acute and escalating threats from climate change, including rising sea levels, increasingly severe storm systems, and the degradation of vital ecosystems. Earth Hour is not merely a symbolic gesture; it is an annual opportunity to demonstrate collective will and reaffirm Grenada’s dedication to a sustainable future.

How to participate
- Switch off all non-essential lights for one hour (8:30 pm – 9:30 pm) on Saturday, 28 March 2026
- Unplug non-essential electrical devices to maximise energy savings
- Engage in low-energy activities during the hour, family conversations, storytelling, or quiet reflection
- Share your participation on social media using Earth Hour hashtags to inspire others across the Caribbean and beyond
A call to action beyond the hour
CYEN Grenada recognises that one hour alone cannot reverse decades of environmental damage. Accordingly, we call on all Grenadians to commit to lasting behavioural change: reduce household and commercial energy consumption, advocate for and invest in renewable energy solutions, protect and restore natural ecosystems, and support local and regional climate policy initiatives.
Governments, businesses, and civil society organisations are especially encouraged to use Earth Hour 2026 as a platform to announce or reaffirm environmental commitments and to engage with CYEN Grenada as a partner in youth-led climate action.
