The Dominica Association of Industry & Commerce (DAIC) has announced the streamlining of the ‘2025 Q1 Quarterly Business Performance Survey’ (QBPS), which will collect important data regarding the performance of businesses within the private sector. The organization stated in a press release that the purpose of this survey is to enhance understanding of business conditions and to ensure that market statistics accurately reflect the current economic climate.
According to Ashma McDougall, the Executive Director at the Chamber, “The Quarterly Business Performance Survey is a crucial tool for gathering accurate data that reflects the true state of Dominica’s private sector.” McDougall emphasized that the collection of key metrics on business performance is essential for grounding market statistics in real insights, which are necessary for informed decision-making and effective economic planning.
McDougall further noted that the value of the survey extends beyond mere data collection. The results will be published, offering new entrants vital insights into business performance expectations and forecasts by industry. This transparency is intended to aid emerging businesses in making informed decisions, ultimately contributing to stronger and more sustainable business outcomes across Dominica.
The Quarterly Business Performance Survey will focus on several key areas:
1. Labour Participation Data: This includes the number of full-time and part-time employees, as well as demographic information such as age and gender.
2. Business Operations: Information regarding electrical outages experienced during the first quarter of the year.
3. Financials: Analysis of sales performance and cash flow.
4. Economic Outlook: Insights into inflationary forecasts and expectations.
Responses have been collected from businesses across all sectors of the private sector in Dominica since April 8, following the DAIC’s Inaugural Post-Budget Luncheon, and will continue until May 9, 2025.
Although the survey is conducted online, the Chamber will launch a national drive to enhance participation, and businesses will receive detailed instructions on how to complete the survey. It is important that businesses complete the survey within the specified timeframe to ensure their responses are included in the final analysis.
The survey can be accessed via a designated link or by visiting www.dominicachamber.com.
All businesses are encouraged to complete the survey promptly to ensure that their valuable input is reflected in this important economic snapshot.
The DAIC states that for any questions or assistance in completing the survey, businesses can reach out to the support team at [email protected] or contact the office at +17674401962
Participation in this survey is vital for strengthening the economic foundation of Dominica and ensuring the accuracy of market data.
