All Saints Slam and Da Project took one-nil leads in their respective best of three playoffs series when the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division 1 competition tipped off at the
JSC basketball complex on Sunday night.
Led by Terry Dawkins who shot a game high of 24 points, Da Project recorded a commanding 92-68 win over Ottos Warriors when they clashed in the opening game of a double-header. T-Shawn Lewis contributed to the win with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Donte Trimingham hit 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and distributed six assists. Sean Nicholas added 10 points and 11 rebounds to the winning efforts.
Da Project dominated the majority of the contest, outscoring Warriors in three of four quarters. They claimed the opening quarter 30-11, the second 28-21 and the third 15-12. Ottos Warriors rebounded to take the final quarter 24-19.
Lincoln Weekes top scored for Warriors with 31 points with Kebo Orford adding 16 points and 14 rebounds to the effort. Shaquille Kelly picked up 13 points and eight rebounds with Michael Barton coming up big on the defensive end with 17 rebounds.
In the other playoffs series, Lornie Joseph and Humroy Wright combined for a total of 46 points to lift All Saints Slam to a 94-64 game-one triumph over Spanish Heat.
Joseph top-scored with 24 points and 21 rebounds while Wright dropped 22 points and grabbed four rebounds to heavily influence the 30-points victory. Also contributing to the winning effort was Wilkin Floyd with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Andrew Venture picked up 12 points and 11 rebounds
