The Jennings Tigers and Rising Sun Spartans secured victories in the ACB Antigua Parish League Sir Vivian Richards Thursday League on Thursday.
Playing at home in Jennings, the Tigers secured a convincing eight-wicket victory over the dominant Liberta Blackhawks in a match that showcased both dominant bowling and assured batting.
Liberta Blackhawks struggled against disciplined bowling from the Tigers, managing just 97 runs before being dismissed in 13 overs. Elroy Francis Jr top-scored with 26 runs, supported by Rahkeem Cornwall (20), Kadeem Phillip (17), and Hayden Walsh Jr (15). However, the middle and lower order collapsed under pressure from the Tigers’ bowling attack.
Glenton Williams was the pick of the bowlers for Jennings, claiming four for 25 runs, while Dimitri Lucas took three for 35 and Grayson Cuffy contributed 2 for 20. The bowling performance restricted Liberta to a below-par total that would prove insufficient.
In response, Jennings Tigers made light work of the chase, reaching 99 for two in just nine overs. Paul Miller anchored the innings with a blazing 42 not out, while Dahri Francis contributed 25 not out. Michael Dover added 18 runs before being dismissed. The Tigers’ aggressive approach and solid partnerships ensured a comfortable victory with plenty of overs to spare.
In what proved to be the match of the day, New Winthorpes Lions posted an impressive 159 for seven in their 20 overs before WES Rising Sun Spartans responded with 161 for four, also in 20 overs, claiming victory by six wickets in a last ball win.
The Lions innings was built around excellent contributions from the top and middle order. Kadeem Henry played a brilliant knock of 54 runs from 32 balls, with Asher Murray providing solid support with 36 runs from 31 balls, and Jermaine Otto contributed a quickfire 34 from 24 balls.
Kadeem Josiah was the standout bowler for WES Rising Sun, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs, while Justin Robinson claimed 2 for 26.
The Spartans’ chase was expertly paced, with Kerry Mentore playing the anchor role to perfection. Mentore remained unbeaten on 68 runs from 50 balls as Delon Wills provided excellent support with 46 runs from 41 balls, including seven fours and Hilroy Andrew contributed a brisk 30 from 20 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.
The bowling figures show Henry was the most successful bowler for the Lions with two wickets for 32 runs, while Orandel Boston had one for 18.
