By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Taiwanese Embassy in Belize was alive with celebration this past week as officials, dignitaries, and invited guests gathered to mark Double Ten Day, Taiwan’s 114th National Day.
The reception was both a commemoration of Taiwan’s history and democracy and a celebration of its long-standing friendship with Belize.
Her Excellency Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize, spoke proudly about the strong diplomatic relationship between the two nations. She praised Belize for its unwavering support for Taiwan’s international recognition and described Belize as “a small country that speaks loudly and clearly for Taiwan.”
The ambassador emphasized ongoing cooperation through Taiwan’s technical missions in Belize, which work closely with local partners to advance national development goals in key sectors.
The evening also featured a moment of distinction for Dr. Candice Pitts, Belize’s former ambassador to Taiwan, who was honored with the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon for her exemplary service and contributions to bilateral relations.
Dr. Pitts said the award reflects the meaningful collaboration that flourished during her tenure. “This recognition honors Belize’s dedication to maintaining and deepening ties with Taiwan in education, culture, trade, and tourism,” she said.
The celebration not only showcased Taiwan’s cultural pride but also emphasized the steadfast friendship and mutual respect that continue to define Belize–Taiwan relations.
