The Dominica State College (DSC) has officially unveiled its newest Smart Classroom and Learning Hub, a cutting-edge facility designed to transform teaching and learning through advanced digital technology. The initiative was made possible through a strategic partnership with Skills to Access the Green Economy (SAGE) and the Government of Canada.
The launch ceremony, held on Wednesday, November 27, brought together members of the College’s management, faculty, and staff, alongside representatives from SAGE and officials from the Ministry of Education. Their presence underscored a shared commitment to strengthening education, digital literacy, and workforce readiness across Dominica.
The Smart Classroom and Learning Hub is equipped with interactive technology, digital tools, and modern learning resources aimed at enhancing instructional delivery and boosting student engagement. The facility supports DSC’s broader mission to expand access to quality education, promote innovative teaching methodologies, and build academic infrastructure that meets the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.
Pat Bidart of SAGE highlighted the project’s importance to the college’s long-term vision, noting that it forms part of a wider regional effort to empower Caribbean institutions with the skills and resources needed to drive sustainable development and environmentally responsible growth.
Trudy Christian, Officer in Charge of the Office of the President, described the new hub as a “meaningful investment in the students’ future.” She emphasized that the facility ensures learners have the tools, technology, and environment required to thrive in a modern, green-focused economy.
The partnership between DSC, SAGE, and the Government of Canada continues to play an important role in advancing educational innovation, climate resilience, and workforce training. The Smart Classroom and Learning Hub is expected to serve both students and faculty by fostering collaboration, creativity, and the effective integration of technology into academic practice.
In a statement of gratitude, DSC extended appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the project and reaffirmed its commitment to preparing students for a dynamic and sustainable future.
