Joel Kwame Seraphin, a man serving a 25-year sentence for the murder of Clinton Mannix in Antigua and Barbuda, has been repatriated to his home country of Dominica after serving about 18 years.
His sentence was commuted by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams. Seraphin, who was declared a prohibited immigrant, was transported back to Dominica on a Sunrise Airways flight after arrangements were made for his departure.
He received a temporary travel document and collected his personal belongings from prison.
In 2009, Seraphin, along with two others, was involved in the murder of Mannix, who was questioned about a flawed cocaine deal before being killed and found with gunshot wounds.
While in prison, Seraphin was also one of the first inmates to receive a scholarship for online studies through the program Seeds of Hope.
