The George Town landfill will close at 1pm on Monday because of the Discovery Day public holiday, the Department of Environmental Health has stated in a press release.
In addition to the early closure, no derelict vehicles or scrap metal will be received through the gate on Monday. However, regular garbage collection and recycling operations will be as normal until closing time.
Regular operations at the landfill will resume on Tuesday.
Members of the public can still use the 24-hour drop-off site at the entrance of the landfill, which will remain open to facilitate the disposal of small amounts of waste from residential customers.
There will be no changes in the schedule for Sister Islands with collections as normal.
