A 31-year-old man caught with almost 50 grammes of cannabis was convicted and fined after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
On April 25, officers were on Redcliffe Street conducting a random stop-and-search exercise when the man, a Public Works employee, who was in the company of others, was stopped and searched.
The police found 46 grammes of cannabis in his possession with a street value of $460. He was taken into custody, arrested and charged.
Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason imposed a fine of $920 which must be paid in 30 days or the man, a father of three, will be imprisoned for 90 days.
An order was made for the drugs to be confiscated and destroyed.
