The Grenada Food and Nutrition Council (GFNC) invites the public to a timely and eye-opening free webinar entitled “Cooking with Danger: The Health Impact of Reused Oils in Grenadian Kitchens” on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, online via Zoom.
This free event is open to everyone, especially:
- Members of the general public
- Families who cook with oil frequently or occasionally
- Food handlers and restaurant owners
- Culinary and dietetic students
- Healthcare professionals and nutrition advisors
GFNC is raising urgent concerns about the growing use of reused cooking oils in Grenadian kitchens — whether at home, on the street, or in restaurants. Research shows that reheating and reusing oils can lead to the formation of harmful compounds with serious health implications. Hence, this webinar offers an opportunity to discover the data, understand the risks, and protect your health with clear insights from experts in the field.
Participants will hear from 2 dynamic speakers who bring both data and clinical insight to this important conversation:
- Larissa Mark, MPH, National Epidemiologist at the Ministry of Health, Grenada, who leads national disease surveillance and health data initiatives
- Ariel Frederick, MD, MPH (cand.), an Internal Medicine resident with a strong background in research, medical education, and community health
Together, they will unpack the hidden dangers of reused oils, share local and international evidence, and provide practical guidance to help Grenadians make safer choices for themselves and their families.
Registration is free. Secure your spot here: Https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/0exg9ZW7Q4y8hg2vPjeFRg or scan the QR Code provided. To learn more about the GFNC, visit https://gfnc.gov.gd/about-us/ and https://linktr.ee/473GFNC.
