The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is currently implementing its project Climate-Resilient Water Sector in Grenada (G-CREWS) in Grenada.
As part of this project, GIZ intends to award a contract for Construction Works for Dams Upgrade and River Intakes Retrofit at Zulu Dam, Mirabeau Dam and Mt Plaisir Dam, and optional Munich Dam and Pomme Rose Dam in Grenada. The scope of work includes:
Mirabeau Dam
- Site clearance and dam desiltation
- Scour protection at the base of the dam
- Construction of a new intake chamber
- Installation of a new sluice gate
Zulu Dam
- Construct footpath, site clearance and dam desiltation
- Construction of a new intake chamber
- Construction of new staircase/footpath
- Construction of sediment trap
- Installation of a new sluice gate
Mt Plaisir Dam
- Construct foothpath
- Site clearance
- Dam desiltation
- Installation of a new sluice gate
Option:
Munich Dam
- Site clearance
- Dam desiltation
- Construction of new intake chamber
- Anchor post
- Construction of scour protection
- Underpin foundation to address leakage on LHS of dam
Pomme Rose Dam
- Site clearance
- Dam desiltation
- Raising of dam Ccest
- Construction of reinforced concrete intake chamber
- Stabilisation of transmission main
Tender procedure from invitation to tender until signing of contract is expected to take place between 24 February 2026 and 31 March 2026. Construction work is expected to be performed and completed approximately within 5 months from signing of contract.
To qualify for consideration in the tender procedure, interested companies are required to submit the following information and documents for eligibility assessment:
- Official letter expressing interest
- Company details, including full company name, full address, phone and email
- Copy of company registration certificate
- Copy of valid company registration/license [applicable construction council, engineering association, trading license or the like required to perform the works]
- Company profile including number of employees (permanent/temporary in total) and number of professional staff qualified to perform the works, each for the last 3 years (evaluation requires at least 5 employees as of previous year)
- References of works of similar nature as specified above (performed within the last 3 years) with a minimum contract volume of EC$60,000 per project
- Total value of works of similar nature as specified above (for each of the last 3 years)
- Annual total turnover for each of the last 3 years, not less than EC$470,000
- Evidence of ownership of equipment and machinery necessary to execute the works or evidence of possibility to hire the same
Evidence of eligibility is to be provided on the basis of the minimum criteria specified in the assessment grid [see the Grid for assessing the eligibility of construction companies].
This tender is open for companies based in the Caribbean Region. The formation of a joint venture is strongly encouraged. Participation is possible through a locally registered branch or in partnership with a local entity. In particular, bidders outside of Grenada may form a consortium (joint venture/ARGE) with a local partner to meet local participation requirements.
