The Office of the Premier announced the assignment of responsibilities to ministers in the newly formed National Coalition For Caymanians administration on Friday afternoon.
Premier André Ebanks will serve as the minister for financial services and commerce; Deputy Premier Gary Rutty will serve as the minister for tourism and trade development; Katherine Ebanks-Wilks will serve as the minister for health, environment and sustainability; Rolston Anglin will serve as the minister for finance and economic development and the minister for education and training; Isaac Rankine will serve as the minister for social development and innovation and the minister for youth, sports, culture and heritage; Jay Ebanks will serve as the minister for planning, lands, agriculture, housing and infrastructure; Nickolas DaCosta will serve as the minister for district administration and home affairs; and Michael Myles will serve as the minister for Caymanian employment and immigration.
Premier Ebanks expressed confidence in the capabilities of the ministers, stating that their appointments are a strategic move towards the administration’s goals to achieve economic and social transformation for Caymanians.
“My Cabinet colleagues and I look forward to working together to build a prosperous future for Caymanians,” he said.
“We are very eager to begin addressing the needs of our people in a way that will positively uplift them now and years to come.”
In addition to announcing the Cabinet responsibilities, several parliamentary secretary positions, who support the Cabinet ministers with their work, were also announced.
Former Premier Wayne Panton will serve as parliamentary secretary responsible for Caymanian employment and immigration, infrastructure, health, environment and sustainability, and financial services and commerce.
Heather Bodden will serve as parliamentary secretary responsible for social development, education and training, and tourism.
Julie Hunter will serve as parliamentary secretary responsible for lands, agriculture, housing and infrastructure, education and training, and culture and heritage.
Deputy Governor Franz Manderson welcomed the new Cabinet and assured its members that the civil service would continue “to support the elected government by delivering caring, modern and customer-centred public services and programmes, which deliver value for money”.
“We have been working during the pre-election period to facilitate the smooth handover of power to any incoming government and we now stand ready to help our ministers and parliamentary secretaries settle in,” Manderson said.
