The Minister for Grand Bahama, Ginger Moxey, said the government is creating a new and better future for the island.
She said the Davis Administration is focused on helping people and building a fair economy where all workers are respected.
“We are writing a new chapter for Grand Bahama — one of strength, renewal and progress,” she said. “We are not finished yet, but we are on the right path and moving forward together.”
Speaking in Parliament during the 2025/2026 Budget Debate, she said the government is keeping its promises. She pointed out that over $3 billion in big investments are now happening in Grand Bahama.
These include:
- $827 million for Grand Lucayan Redevelopment
- $700 million for Celebration Key
- $665 million for Grand Bahama Shipyard
- $348 million for Xanadu Beach Project
- $210 million for Freeport Health Campus
- $100 million for RCCL Cruise Port
- $73 million for Liwathon at South Riding Point
She said people may not realize how big these investments are because there are so many happening at once.
Minister Moxey said Grand Bahama is now the fastest growing travel destination in The Bahamas. Air arrivals are up 14.5%, and with Celebration Key opening next month, sea arrivals are expected to rise a lot too.
By 2028, the government believes Grand Bahama could have six million visitors each year.
She also mentioned more projects that are underway or planned, including the airport, shopping areas, roads, a new resort, a university, medical school, yacht company, and parks.
Moxey repeated her earlier message for Bahamians to return home and get ready to take part in the island’s changes.
She also listed completed projects like the Winn Building, Solomon’s, public service offices, schools, hospitals, and parks.
