The Permanent Mission of Grenada to the United Nations announces that the Government of Grenada has established diplomatic relations with the Government of the Principality of Andorra.
The Principality of Andorra is a small, landlocked country in the eastern Pyrenees mountains, situated between France to the north and Spain to the south on the Iberian Peninsula in Southwestern Europe. The agreement was formally signed by Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Andall and Foreign Affairs Minister Imma Tor Faus of Andorra. The signing took place on the margins of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) in New York.
In the meeting, the Foreign Ministers emphasised the greater need for sharing tourism best practices, noting that exchanging successful strategies and experiences among countries and stakeholders can strengthen the sector, enhance visitor experiences, and promote sustainable growth. They also highlighted the importance of training and development for youth, recognising that equipping young people with the right skills and knowledge will prepare them for meaningful employment opportunities, which would equally ensure future sustainability and innovation of the economy.
Establishing relations with Andorra provides the opportunity for Grenada to develop greater ties with Europe, opening doors for increased cooperation in areas such as tourism, education, trade, and cultural exchange. This new partnership can also serve as a platform for Grenada to strengthen its visibility and presence in European institutions, expand economic opportunities, and foster mutually beneficial collaborations that contribute to national development and global engagement.
