At 5:00 a.m. AST (0900 UTC), Hurricane Humberto’s center was at latitude 23.9° North and longitude 63.3° West.
The storm is moving west-northwest at about 13 mph (20 km/h).
It is expected to turn northwest this morning, then north-northwest by Monday evening, and north-northeast by Tuesday evening, passing west of Bermuda.
Humberto has maximum sustained winds near 155 mph (250 km/h), making it an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane. It should stay a major hurricane for the next few days.
Hurricane-force winds reach up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center, while tropical storm-force winds extend up to 140 miles (220 km).
The storm’s central pressure is estimated at 929 mb (27.44 inches).
Hazards to land:
- Surf: Swells from Humberto will continue to hit the northern Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda this week. By Monday, swells will also reach the U.S. East Coast. These waves will create dangerous surf and rip currents. Local weather offices should be consulted for details.
