By Horace Palacio: Former Minister Patrick Faber is pushing back against suggestions that he may have been under the influence during a recent confrontation with police. Speaking to the media, Faber firmly denied any wrongdoing and said he’s sticking to a New Year’s resolution to stop drinking entirely.
“I stopped drinking on New Year’s Day,” he declared. “This whole thing is a setup. It’s an internal plot meant to fracture the UDP even more—especially since this happened the very morning of our first press conference after the elections.”

Faber’s defense comes after former Commissioner Chester Williams commented that while Faber was clearly provoking the officer, the police should have taken a sample to test for alcohol.
Faber maintains that he was not driving under the influence and sees the incident as politically motivated. The case has been adjourned to June 24th, when further proceedings are expected.
