Cap Cana.- With record-breaking Dominican participation and exceptional organization, the Dominican Republic successfully hosted the second edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Cap Cana, drawing nearly 1,000 athletes from 42 countries. Held in Cap Cana’s Juanillo Beach, the triathlon featured a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and a 21.1 km run, attracting over 6,000 spectators and solidifying its status as a premier international sporting event in the Caribbean.
The event was praised for its detailed organization and its role in promoting healthy lifestyles and sports tourism. Cap Cana CEO Jorge Subero and SBR Sports President Wilber Anderson emphasized the importance of using sports to inspire youth and strengthen communities. A new contract ensures the event’s continuation in Cap Cana until 2029.
Puerto Rican triathlete Javier Figueroa claimed his second IRONMAN 70.3 Cap Cana title, dedicating the win to his support team. Ecuador’s Diego Arteaga finished second, praising the local hospitality and race setup. Erick García Rossi made history as the first Dominican to finish the race, while Argentine Brenda Schaupp became the first woman to win the event, highlighting Cap Cana’s scenic course and world-class organization.
