Double-murder-accused Jonathan Lehrer was denied bail in relation to trafficking firearms.
Lehrer, along with his accomplice Robert Snider Jr, is presently on remand at the Dominica State Prison for the murder of Coulibri Ridge Eco-Resort owners Daniel Langlois and his partner Dominique Marchand on December 6, 2023.
“On the 15th day of January 2025, Jonathan Lehrer was charged with trafficking firearms,” Director of Public Prosections Sherma Dalrymple said during a statement on State-Owned Radio DBS. “On that day, he was brought to court and charges were read to him. Bail was denied in the magistrate’s court.”
She continued, “He subsequently made a bail application again in the magistrate’s court, where it was denied.”
Dalrymple further explained that in late July, Lehrer filed a bail application in the High Court, and on August 20, 2025, Justice Baptiste ruled on that matter.
“In that matter, the Chief of Police and myself were defendants, so the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions retained Keith Scotland, Senior Counsel out of Trinidad to represent both defendants,” she explained. “We filed arguments in the matter and also there was a hearing thereafter, the ruling was handed down last week Wednesday, 20th August 2025, and Justice Baptiste ruled that bail was denied.”
In the meantime, Dalrymple said Lehrer’s bail is opened in the double murder matter, “but bail is denied in the trafficking firearms matter.”
“As such, he will not be able at this stage to access liberty,” she remarked.
In January 2025, Lehrer was charged with trafficking firearms and unlawfully importing 1 Mac 11- 9MM Threaded barrel, 144 9X19 MM ammunition, IWI 25 rounds capacity 9MM Magazine; 3 IWI 32 rounds capacity 9MM magazine, 3 Glock 9MM 15 rounds capacity magazine, and 3 Glock 9MM 10 rounds capacity magazine.
According to previous information from the court, it is alleged that Lehrer was engaged in trafficking these firearms on December 4, 2023, at Bois Cotlette in Soufriere.
He was not required to enter a plea since trafficking firearms and unlawful importation are indictable offenses and are expected to be tried at the High Court of Justice before a Judge and jury.
At the time, Lehrer was represented by Attorney Lennox Lawrence and Wayne Norde, while Inspector Simon Edwards led the prosecution case.
