Scores of mourners turned out on Saturday, January 10, for the funeral service of Director of Communications for the Government of the Virgin Islands, Karia Christopher, who passed away suddenly last month.
Christopher was remembered through heartfelt tributes from her husband, children, mother, siblings and mother-in-law, all of whom spoke of a deep love and close bond with the late communications director.
Family members reflected on her devotion to her family and the impact she had on those closest to her.
Tributes were also delivered by several members of the House of Assembly from both the government and the parliamentary opposition, underscoring the wide respect Christopher commanded across the political divide.
Throughout her public service career, Christopher held a number of senior roles within the Virgin Islands public sector. These included Director of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs; Sister Islands Programme Coordinator; and Chief Administrative Officer of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission.
Christopher is survived by her husband Robelto, children Hunter and Dakota, mother Delrice Mactavious, sister Jan Christopher and brother Jarel Smith, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.
