By Horace Palacio: Police are investigating an early morning incident where a firearm was discharged in public on Vernon Street, resulting in the detention of a Belizean security supervisor.
The incident occurred around 12:20 a.m., when officers assigned to special duty nearby reported hearing multiple gunshots near New Asia Restaurant. Responding swiftly, police converged on the area and were directed to a yard where the suspected shooter was believed to be hiding.
Police detained a 40-year-old security supervisor. A black Glock 17 9mm pistol with an empty magazine was recovered from the back steps of the house, while eight expended 9mm shells were found at the front gate.
The scene was processed and photographed by forensic personnel. Tench was handed over to the relief personnel pending formal charges.
Authorities continue their investigation into the motive and circumstances behind the incident.
