By Zoila Palma: Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton joins in raising awareness during Mental Health Awareness Month.
“This month, we are reminded of the urgent need to bring awareness to the struggles of those suffering in silence and those who remain in denial. Mental illness is often invisible and difficult to accept, yet its impacts are real and far-reaching. Tragically, stigma continues to shroud this critical issue, keeping far too many from seeking the help they need,” Panton said.

“Families and friends play a vital role. When troubling signs emerge, intervention may become not only necessary but lifesaving. It is not compassionate to look the other way while a loved one spirals out of control. Denial is not a solution. When behaviors become disruptive, harmful, or extreme, decisive and loving action must be taken. Your loved one deserves nothing less,” Panton added.
Warning signs could include narcissism, disillusionment, anxiety, denial, depression among others.
“Mental health is REAL. Mental illness is treatable. Together, let’s end the stigma and stand with those on the path to healing,” Panton urged.
