The Dominica National Lottery (DNL), has officially announced the winner of the Super Six jackpot as Mrs. Anne Luke of Mahaut who walked away with a staggering $1.197 million. The announcement, made by DNL’s Marketing Manager Ken George, marked the end of weeks of speculation and excitement following the August 2nd draw.
Ken George expressed the organization’s joy at finally revealing the identity of the winner after rumors spread across the island and beyond.
“Today is a very exciting day for us at Dominica National Lottery.,” he said. “I am proud to announce that Mrs. Anne Luke, 57 years of age, married with one son, is our Super Six millionaire.”
Mrs. Luke purchased her winning ticket on July 20th at Miniya’s in Canefield, using the combo method, a strategy DNL has long encouraged through its radio programs. Her $84 combo play not only secured the $1.19 million jackpot but also earned her twelve match-five wins, each worth $500, bringing her total winnings to $1.197 million.
Taking the microphone, an emotional Mrs. Luke recounted her journey to becoming Dominica’s newest millionaire. A resident of Cochrane, she described buying over $300 worth of tickets that day and the Super 8 combo ticket that ultimately changed her life.
“I went to church that morning,” she said. “After service, I sit in my truck and start going through the 300 tickets. When I watched the Super 8 Combo, I go through my little numbers one by one…I see 2, I say okay. I see 5…I see 12, I see 14. I scream so hard and I stay in the truck. I cry, I cry, I cry, I cry. I say, Lord, you show it’s true.”
She described the surreal days that followed, filled with rumors that the winning ticket had been lost or destroyed.
“I didn’t sleep for two weeks. People say that ticket lost, ped [Creole], in the washing machine,” but the truth is, Mrs. Luke had that ticket and was simply biding her time, following DNL, impatiently waiting for payday.
“I thank God for blessing me with that ticket,” she said.

Mrs. Luke urged Dominicans and players across the region to continue supporting the lottery.
“You never know—it could be your neighbor, or it could be you. If $80 is too much, put $20 with someone and play together. The combo method works.”
Her testimony served as a powerful endorsement of the Super Six combo play, which DNL has championed for its increased chances of winning. As Ken George noted, “Today is a clear example of how beneficial it is to play the combo.”
While Mrs. Luke’s win is historic, she is not the first Dominican woman to claim millionaire status. That distinction was first earned by Lucille Worrell of Fond Cole, who won US$1 million (EC$2.67 million) in LIME’s Million Dollar Christmas draw years earlier. Worrell qualified for the regional grand prize after paying her fixed line bill on time and winning a weekly prize.
