
A MAJOR Scots road has been closed both ways after a horror crash as heavy snow continues to batter parts of the country.
Emergency crews raced to the A9 just north of Aviemore this afternoon in wintry conditions.
The alarm was raised at around 2.25pm following the smash one mile north of the Garnish Junction.
Drivers have been urged to avoid the area.
Traffic Scotland cameras just north of Aviemore show huge tailbacks on the road.
Cops confirmed that a diversion is currently in place through Carrbridge.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The A9 is closed in both directions due to a crash one mile north of the Garnish Junction near Aviemore, which was reported to us around 2.25pm on Tuesday, 6 January, 2026.
“Emergency services are currently in attendance.
“A diversion is in place through Carrbridge. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.”
Traffic Scotland wrote on X: “The A9 remains CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS due to a road traffic incident.
