A man remains hospitalized with serious injuries after being shot during an armed robbery at a popular bar in Road Town in the early hours of Saturday, October 4, 2025, according to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).
Police say two armed suspects entered the establishment, robbed patrons, and discharged a firearm, striking one male victim. The injured man was transported to Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, where he is receiving medical care.
This latest incident is part of a troubling pattern of armed robberies across the territory in recent days. Authorities report that within the past week, there have been multiple incidents, including a vehicle stolen at gunpoint on Beef Island, which was later connected to another robbery in Road Town. In both cases, masked men brandishing firearms robbed victims of their valuables. No other injuries were reported in those incidents.
Police Commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool expressed deep concern over the spike in violent crime.
“We are deeply concerned about the recent spate of armed robberies and last night’s shooting,” she said. “These reckless acts threaten the safety and security of our community and will not be tolerated. Our officers are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible.”
She urged anyone with information to come forward to help bring the perpetrators to justice.
In light of the ongoing threat, the RVIPF is also warning residents that individuals wearing jewelry at night appear to be targeted by robbers. The public is strongly encouraged to remain vigilant, especially after dark, and to stay aware of their surroundings at all times
