A new fragrance line said to have been inspired by Bob Marley has officially launched in Saint Lucia.
The Marley Fragrance collection was introduced on Saturday, 16 August, at Castries Duty Free in Pointe Seraphine, with shoppers now able to purchase six scents inspired by the late reggae icon.
The debut line – Satisfy My Soul, Lights Down Low, Place of Peace, Mellow Mood, Soul Rebel, and Simmer Down – was developed by world-renowned perfumers at Givaudan and Firmenich. They say each fragrance blends natural ingredients sourced from Jamaica, including mango, hibiscus, basil, star apple, and cinnamon, and is designed to evoke moods of love, peace and unity.
Sandra Emmanuel, marketing manager at Caribbean Duty Free, explained, “Castries Duty Free and our associate sister stores in the various islands are the exclusive regional agents for the product,” she said, noting the fragrances came through their corporate parent Avolta, the same company behind the arrival of Fenty Beauty earlier this year.
She added that shoppers may be pleasantly surprised by the pricing. “Our prices are competitive compared to purchasing online… as a matter of fact, they’re going for US$120 per bottle, it’s 100ml. Online, it’s usually US$140, because this is the arrangement we have in place, so it’s more economical to get it locally.”
The fragrances offer variety for both men and women. Emmanuel said that since the release of the initial advertisement earlier last week, shoppers have been curious and lured in by the Marley name. Some even wondered whether the product was “a rasta thing”, but Emmanuel stressed it’s simply a ‘premium fragrance line’.
The Marley Fragrance line is now available at Castries Duty Free, Pointe Seraphine.
