The Ministry of Education is pleased to announce the rollout of e-books and laptops for all Form One and Form Two students in public secondary schools, beginning September 2025.
This initiative forms part of a commitment by the Government of Grenada to leverage Information Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance teaching and learning across the education system.
Students will have access to e-books for core subjects like Mathematics, English A & B, Geography, Social Studies, Integrated Science, Agriculture Science, Home Economics, Spanish, French, and Textile, Clothing and Fashion. These e-books will be available online and offline through web, desktop, and mobile apps. Parents who prefer physical textbooks may continue to purchase them.
Copies of e-books for the following subjects will only be available to teachers; however, students will be provided with resources for these areas as needed.
- Building and Furniture Technology
- Electronic Document Preparation and Management
- Physical Education
- History
- Visual Arts
- Health and Family Education
No e-copies are available for the following subjects:
- Student Atlas for the Caribbean, Collins
- CSEC Geography Atlas Skill Workbook, Collins
- Tricolor 5e edition, Student’s Grammar in Action Workbook, Oxford University Press
- ¿QUÉ HAY? CUADERNO, Workbook, Nelson Thorne (Oxford University Press) 2nd Edition
To support the transition to e-books, each Form One and Form Two student will receive a laptop through a cost-sharing partnership between the Ministry of Education and parents. Further details of this arrangement will be communicated in the coming weeks. Parents who opt out of the programme may allow their children to use personal laptops or tablets, provided these comply with school regulations.
Additionally, each student will receive a secure Microsoft 365 account, giving them access to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and other productivity tools, with a single sign-on for the e-books platform. For enhanced support and security, laptops will come with a 2-year manufacturer warranty and will be remotely managed for updates and location tracking in case of theft.
The Ministry of Education will conduct orientation sessions for parents, students, and teachers to ensure a smooth transition to this new learning platform.
The initial rollout of e-books and laptops represents the first phase of the programme, focusing on Forms One and Two, with plans for expansion to additional form levels in the future. It is a transformative step in preparing students for the digital age, ensuring equitable access to modern tools and resources for learning.
