International reggae and dancehall entertainer Mr. Easy will ignite the New Jersey Jerk Festival stage this Memorial Day weekend.
Taking place on Sunday, May 25, at Boyd Park in New Brunswick, NJ, the “Drive Me Crazy” hit-maker will treat fans to “an electrifying performance packed with timeless hits spanning his decades-long career,” Flair Lindsey, Caribbean entertainment publicist, of Acclaim PR, told Caribbean Life on Monday.
“With a vibrant energy and an authentic island vibe, Mr. Easy promises to be a festival highlight, blends flavorful jerk cuisine, cultural celebration, and lively music,” she added.
Daronie Hanson of Hans Objective Services, one of the event’s organizers, said, “Mr. Easy truly embodies the essence of our festival.
“After savoring our spicy jerk cuisine, guests will be swept away by his smooth melodies and dynamic performance,” he said. “The international recording artist’s authentic reggae and dancehall style represents a genuine Caribbean vibe that completes the festival experience.”
Lindsey said Mr. Easy’s smash hit “Drive Me Crazy” rounds out a catalogue that embodies the classic, unforgettable sounds of powerful music and culture.
“On any given night, somewhere in the world, infectious anthems from Mr. Easy are moving the masses,“ she said.
“With a diverse musical palate, which has been featured in the cult classic film ‘Belly,’ ‘After the Sunset’” and most recently the BBC TV series’ Grime Kids,’ Mr. Easy shows no signs of slowing down,“ Lindsey added.
She said the official music video for his blazing song “Inside“ recently premiered in Time Square to much fanfare.
Lindsey said other current favs are “Kingston Town“ — with a nostalgic intro from the legendary Shinehead — and “Praise’ Em.“
“Attendees can expect a flavorful mix of mouth-watering jerk dishes, live music, family-friendly entertainment, cultural displays, and an authentic celebration of Caribbean pride,“ Lindsey said. “More than just a food festival, it’s a full cultural experience.”
She said what started in 2009 as a simple community cookout has blossomed into New Jersey’s premiere Caribbean event.
“Now drawing thousands each year, the New Jersey Jerk Festival has become a lively gathering highlighting the richness of Caribbean cuisine, music, and community spirit,“ Lindsey said.
