The final of the National Tourism Youth Congress Competition will be held on Friday, 9 May 2025.
Reintroduced by the Ministry of Tourism, the Creative Economy, and Culture, this dynamic competition seeks to ignite passion and awareness about the tourism industry among the youth. It serves as a vital platform for young creative minds to present their perspectives, insights, and innovative ideas for the future development and expansion of Grenada’s tourism sector.
The national competition features a 2-round format that brings together students aged 14–17 from secondary and tertiary institutions.
Round 1, which concluded on 4 April 2025, required students to submit a video presentation on a tourism-related topic. Seven students from 5 schools advanced to the final round of the competition.
The 7 students facing off in Round 2 of the national competition are:
- Ariane Marryshow, St Joseph’s Convent, St George’s
- Delonya Francois, St Joseph’s Convent, Grenville
- Harmony Thomas, Westmorland Secondary
- Kealah Baptiste, T A Marryshow Community College
- Khiala Bain, St Joseph’s Convent, St George’s
- Lillian Medford, Wesley College
- Tianna Mitchell, St Joseph’s Convent St George’s
In this round, the finalists will research and present to their peers, ideas and solutions to key issues affecting the tourism sector.
The winner of the competition will be bestowed the title of “Junior Minister for Tourism” and will receive mentorship opportunities, a cash award, and will also represent Grenada at the Regional Tourism Youth Congress scheduled for October 2025.
The Regional Tourism Youth Congress, organised annually by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) during the State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC), brings together national winners from the CTO member countries. Modelled after a CTO Board of Directors’ Meeting, the forum aims to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the tourism industry and foster leadership among Caribbean youth.
The ministry extends its heartfelt appreciation to the students and teachers for their dedication and congratulates the finalists. A vibrant and inspiring event that celebrates youth and the promising future of tourism in Grenada is anticipated.
