NIA CHARLESTOWN, Nevis (March 27, 2026) — Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, today welcomed Her Excellency Xiomara Perez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Panama to Barbados and Saint Kitts and Nevis, during a courtesy call at his office at Pinneys Estate.
Ambassador Perez recently presented her credentials to the Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis, Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd, on St. Kitts prior to her official visit to Nevis.
Premier Brantley, who also serves as Minister of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), highlighted the longstanding historical ties between St. Kitts and Nevis and Panama.
“I am pleased to welcome Her Excellency to Nevis. The people of St. Kitts and Nevis have had a very long relationship with Panama. Many of our forefathers migrated there during the construction of the Panama Canal construction, so we are very familiar with your country. We look forward to further developing and strengthening our relations with the people of Panama,” he said.
Ambassador Perez acknowledged the strong diplomatic relationship between Panama and the Federation but noted the need to enhance people-to-people engagement.
“While our countries share close ties, there is still much opportunity for deeper connection. My visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations, promote greater cultural understanding, and expand collaboration in areas such as trade, tourism, logistics, and other key sectors,” she said, also commending Nevis for its progress in agriculture.
During the visit, Premier Brantley and Ambassador Perez exchanged symbolic gifts representing their respective nations and engaged in discussions focused on trade, connectivity, and broader avenues for cooperation.
