Two Carriacou residents who lost their homes to Hurricane Beryl are starting over in new climate-resilient houses provided under the government’s Build Back Better initiative.
Urias Collins of Mt Royal and Theresa Stewart of Cherry Hill received their keys on Tuesday, 16 September 2025.

Collins, who lived in a tent for more than a year after the Category 4 hurricane destroyed his home, expressed gratitude to the government for a fresh start.
Minister Tevin Andrews emphasised that the initiative goes beyond constructing houses and also focuses on creating a model suitable for climate resilience. So far, the Build Back Better programme has completed 36 homes, with 22 more currently under construction, offering renewed stability and security to some of the island’s most affected families.
