By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Orange Walk Football Association is set to ignite the 2025–2026 football season with the opening round of its highly anticipated Men’s 1st Division Tournament this Sunday, October 5, at the Louisiana Football Field in Orange Walk.
This year’s tournament promises fierce competition as Group A teams take the field in a triple-header that marks the official start of the season.
All eyes will be on the 3:00 pm fixture as Yo Creek United, the defending champions, begin their title defense against August Pine Ridge Central. Earlier in the day, Palmar face host team Louisiana, while Mi Gente and Guinea Grass close out the triple-header.

Palmar FC – Louisiana FC @1:00 pm
Yo Creek United FC – August Pine Ridge Central FC @3:00 pm
Mi Gente FC – Guinea Grass FC @ 5:00 pm
While all Group A clubs see action this weekend, the Group B teams will be stepping onto the pitch for Week 2. San Estevan Soccer Team FC will face Crystal FC, San Jose FC will tackle Orange Walk Santa Cruz FC, and Progresso FC will take on subchamoions San Jose Pumas FC.
The OWFA Men’s 1st Division Championship is expected to showcase emerging talent and seasoned players alike. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, wear their team colours, and support their local clubs as the season begins.
