The Pink Ladies Volunteer Corps distributed $42,500 to 10 charities across the island this month.
Recipients were The Pines Retirement Home, the National Children’s Voluntary Organisation (NCVO), YMCA, Acts of Random Kindness (ARK), the National Trust for the Cayman Islands, Lighthouse School, the Cayman Arts Festival, Inclusion Cayman, the Cayman Community Farm and Special Olympics Cayman Islands.
The Pink Ladies noted that the funding came from the group’s Christmas Bazaar in November 2024 and their fashion show in February this year.
The organisation was founded by the late Olive Miller in 1985. She also founded the Girls’ Brigade and the NCVO. Miller died in May 2020 at the age of 98.
The Pink Ladies is currently carrying out a campaign to have Miller memoralised in a set of postage stamps.
