The Barbados Police Service (TBPS) is reporting a peaceful and incident-free 2025 Crop Over Festival, which climaxed Monday on the Mighty Grynner Highway with the Flow Grand Kadooment.
Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce disclosed late Monday evening that the law enforcement strategy for Kadooment Day, the largest mass event of the festival, was highly successful.
He said even though the security forces experienced some challenges with cellphone connectivity on the Mighty Grynner Highway, this did not adversely affect execution of the policing plans.
“The execution of our policing plan for Kadooment Day was highly successful when one considers the indepth preparation which was done to ensure a safe and secure festival. The collaboration of the officers from the Police Service and the Barbados Defence Force worked well for us,” the police chief told Barbados TODAY.
He said the behaviour of the thousands of people on the road was commendable.
“We did not receive any reports of fights or other acts of violence involving the attendees, and we wish to express our thanks and appreciation to these persons for heeding our calls to enjoy the Kadooment Day event in peace,” Commissioner Boyce said.
“We will undertake a review of the policing plan and execution of this event and make any adjustments that will be deemed necessary to enhance its execution going forward.”
“I also give high praises to all the officers and other supporting agencies that made our work a successful undertaking,” he added.
