Police have recovered the car that was used during the murder of 31-year-old Rashe Hodge in West End, according to Commissioner of Police Robert Clark.
The vehicle is now in the custody of the Royal Anguilla Police Force and is being forensically examined, the police chief said during a press conference on 10 May.
Officers have also recovered and are examining CCTV footage from that area and other areas across the island in relation to the incident.
“I must say that I am very grateful to members of the public who provided information which allowed us to recover the car which was used in the shooting quite shortly afterwards,” the commissioner said.
A dedicated team has been set up to investigate the shooting.
West End shooting
At about 11.15am on Friday, 9 May, the Royal Anguilla Police Force received a report of an incident near the NCBA West bank and Hughes Medical Centre, involving a person lying motionless on the road.
Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded swiftly to the scene, a police press release said.
The commissioner said it initially appeared to have been a road traffic collision.
“It became very quickly clear that it was not a collision, but had been an attack on a male on a scooter who had been shot a number of times and fatally wounded at the scene,” Clark said.
He explained that the area was cordoned off, detectives and scenes of crime officers visited the scene and recovered a number of items for forensic examination including several spent gun shells.
