Emergency services were on standby at Owen Roberts International Airport Tuesday morning as a small private jet came in to land after suffering a malfunction.
The 15-seater Hawker 850XP plane landed safely after burning fuel before touching down at 11:17am.
A spokesperson for the Cayman Islands Airports Authority told the Compass that the aircraft “experienced a flap issue and was required to burn fuel for approximately an hour to make the aircraft lighter before landing”.
There were four people on board the aircraft, which had departed Owen Roberts but then turned back around after the issue was discovered, the CIAA spokesperson said.
The airport’s runway was not closed during the episode, but the Fire Service and an ambulance were on stand-by until the plane landed.
